The D-ICE Information System (DIIS) takes measurements every 10 minutes and reports instantly if atmospheric ice is present. The DIIS combines measurements from 4 individual sensor systems in order to correctly determine meteorological parameters such as type of precipitation, rate of precipitation, ambient temperature and wind speed. Each sensor system is state of the art, and the output is used by a unique software program to calculate the appropriate fluid Holdover Time associated with the type of de-icing fluid being used during de-/anti icing of the aircraft.
