Updated Hold Over Time (HOT) information every 15 minutes* or less - through combined the combination of physical measurements of meteorological parameters and scientific calculations from fluid specific data.
The DAN-ICE De-Icing Information System (DIIS)
has been developed as a stand-alone, automatic system operating within the premises of an airport. DIIS takes measurements every 15 minutes of the three parameters required for correct determination of HOT:
How does it work?
The DIIS consist of a range of standard meteorological sensors from top line manufacturers and a unique Titanium turbine mounted on a weighing scale for collecting precipitation and measuring of intensity.
Signals from the sensors and weighing scale are analyzed by a dedicated software application running on PC's.
The software contains databases with fluid specific data derived from endurance time testing. All calculations are
thus based on the very same scientific information used by regulators world wide for preparation of the current HOT tables.
DIIS information is displayed on a PC and can be made availabe electronically to the flight deck either through ACARS, handheld devices or communicated by the ground crew and/or the de-icing provider.
* HOT update with one unit. With 2 units you may have updated HOT every 7.5 minutes.
